Pepperl+Fuchs’ industrial box thin clients (BTCs) come in a durable, enclosed IP4x housing. The compact, ruggedized aluminum housing can withstand the stress of challenging ambient conditions in process industries. With an extended temperature range of -20 °C to +60 °C and a fanless design, the BTCs can be flexibly installed in extreme temperatures and stowed in cabinets, drawers, or containers.

Users of the industrial box thin clients will benefit from long-term availability of both hardware and software. Pepperl+Fuchs’ thin clients are based on industrial components that are available for a long period of time and ensure high reliability. The pre-installed VisuNet RM Shell 5 firmware is based on Microsoft® Windows® 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB, which includes long-term support by Microsoft.

Pepperl+Fuchs has optimized the industrial box thin clients for use with the latest screen technology. The compact BTC12 is equipped with two DisplayPort™ interfaces, while the BTC14 comes with four DisplayPort interfaces that support up to four Ultra HD monitors with 4K resolution at 60 Hz. This ensures an optimal overview of your processes.

Pre-installed VisuNet RM Shell 5 firmware simplifies configuration and setup of box thin clients—the BTC12 and BTC14 can be set up within minutes. Combined with the additional VisuNet Control Center software, users can efficiently and conveniently configure and manage all VisuNet thin clients.

Engineered to withstand continuous exposure to high temperatures, shock, and vibration, the new BTC14 and the well-known BTC12 and BTC01 can handle the most demanding process applications. The rugged BTC14 and BTC12 offer users the most installation flexibility.

No Overheating
Even in extreme temperatures, the industrial box thin clients are reliable. They feature passive cooling and multiple cooling fins prevent them from overheating.
In Freezing Cold
The rugged box thin clients even withstand freezing environments. They can operate in temperatures ranging from -20 °C to +60 °C.
Enclosed Housing
Due to their enclosed IP4x housings, the BTCs can withstand the challenging conditions in industrial control room environments, like those found in paper mills.
Secured Interfaces
All connectors can be mechanically secured so the box thin clients can withstand vibration.

Both the BTC12 (dual monitor installations) and BTC14 (quad monitor installations) provide users with a range of installation possibilities and a variety of mounting options. With their rugged design and extended temperature range, they can be installed in control rooms with challenging conditions. Mount them on top of a desk, under a desk, or store them in a drawer.

Future-Proof Technology

The compact BTC12 comes with two DisplayPort™ interfaces that support Ultra HD monitors with 4K resolution at 60 Hz. With four DisplayPort interfaces, the latest BTC14 is designed for use in quad monitor installations. This gives you an optimal overview of your processes. An additional DP++ option allows users to connect HDMI monitors with a passive DisplayPort adapter.

To simplify configuration and setup of box thin clients, VisuNet RM Shell 5 firmware is pre-installed and pre-configured for various control systems. This way, it is quick and easy to get BTCs up and running. The latest generation of RM Shell is based on Microsoft® Windows® 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB, which includes long-term security updates by Microsoft. In addition, RM Shell 5 comes with integrated security mechanisms that give the system reliable protection from malware and viruses.
