Field Units

LB system remote I/O field units for designed use in Zone 2, Class I/Div. 2 explosion-hazardous areas. They are equipped with a backplane that carries all remote I/O components (I/O modules, power supply, com units). The backplane supports all standard fieldbus protocols:

• PROFIBUS DP/DP-V1
• MODBUS RTU
• MODBUS TCP

The durable field unit enclosures are made from glass fiber reinforced polyester or electropolished stainless steel and ensure reliable protection of all electric components from harsh ambient conditions.

Lightweight polyester housings offer high corrosion resistance, while the surface resistance prevents electrostatic charges. Field units made from electropolished 316L stainless steel provide high corrosion and impact resistance, and easily handle a wide temperature range. Both enclosure types meet degree of protection IP66. An integrated return flange prevents water ingress at the one-piece seal.

The largest LB field unit is manufactured from 316L stainless steel and features 46 slots for I/O modules in an 800 x 800 x 300 mm enclosure. Fieldbus and mains connection are laid out with redundancy. It is suitable for use in a -20 °C … +55 °C temperature range.
