When surge protective devices need to be fixed on DIN mounting rail, there are two different modules available: a modular system with a width of 6.2 mm as well as single-part modules with a width of 12.5 mm.
The modular surge protection system M-LB-5000 consists of a pluggable protection module and a base module fixed on the DIN mounting rail. Protection modules are available for hazardous areas and non-hazardous areas, with or without diagnostics inside.
Via a traffic light display, the patented diagnostic function shows status information of protection modules. The green LED indicates full power supply. The yellow LED demonstrates the module reached 90% of lifetime, but signal circuit is still protected. A flashing red LED signalizes the protection module is permanently damaged and protective effect got lost.
The loop disconnect feature of the modular surge protection system M-LB-5000 allows easy installation and commissioning. When removing the protection module, the affected signal circuit remains connected through the base module. This allows users to easily exchange modules—without any line break. If the protection module is removed and re-inserted with 180° rotation, the signal circuit is interrupted by the integrated disconnect function. This enables isolation testing as well as loop monitoring during commissioning.
With a width of just 6.2 mm, the new M-LB-5000 surge protection modules reduce space needed in your switch cabinet. When upgrading existing equipment, the narrow housing design allows easy and space-neutral replacement of marshalling terminals with surge components.
If there is no need for modularity and diagnostic function, Pepperl+Fuchs also offers single-part modules with a width of 12.5 mm.
